TikTok partner with Shopify to introduce a shopping tab on TikTok profiles – RouteNote Leave a comment

According to the ecommerce software platform, social commerce is one of the fastest growing channels for Shopify merchants. Even without any in-app shopping tools, TikTok has a global influence on modern retail. Thanks to the algorithm at the heart of TikTok’s discovery page, shopping is an interactive, entertaining experience. Anyone and anything including brands have the potential to be discovered on TikTok. A single TikTok has the power to drive new shopping trends. With an expanded partnership with Shopify, TikTok are innovating on ways to help brands sell directly through their profile with TikTok Shopping.
These new features include helping merchants create engaging and organic content, to make it easier for consumers to explore and buy products they discover on TikTok. Shopify merchants with a TikTok for Business account can add a shopping tab to their TikTok profiles and sync their product catalogues. The virtual mini-storefront links directly to their online store for checkout. Artist could use this tool to link fans to their digital music and merch store.
Alongside the new shopping tab, TikTok creators can highlight items for sale in TikTok videos with product links. Viewers can either navigate to the merchant’s storefront or simply tap the tagged product.
TikTok Shopping is available to Shopify merchants in the US, UK and to a select group in Canada in the coming weeks. Shopify says they are looking to roll out to additional region in the coming months. Merchants can request early access to TikTok Shopping via Shopify’s TikTok channel. TikTok says going forward they will continue to experiment with new commerce opportunities.
